My Review
For fans of the best-selling Divergent by Veronica Roth, the new companion novella, The Transfer, is a must read. In this first of four novella's we read about Tobias Eaton's transfer from Abnegation to Dauntless, and learn about his tragic background that made him into the Four we all know and love.
While it was short, even by novella standards, The Transfer was just the right length for the story that needed to be told. There is such a big difference between the Four we know from the first two books of the Divergent trilogy to the Four that first stepped foot into the Dauntless compound. It is strange to see Four so vulnerable when we are so used to seeing him as the authority figure. However, the character development that we see in this novella already hints at how Four will develop during his initiation and his first few years as a full-fledged Dauntless.
We also get some more hints into the political background that acts as the backdrop for many of the problems that occur in the Divergent trilogy. We also get a little more insight into Four's personal story and the abuse he suffered right up until his transfer and his mother's absence. As the release of Allegiant draws near, The Transfer is a great way to re-enter the world that we've all been dying to go back to. It's also great to have the next three novellas to look forward to when we have to say good-bye to the Divergent trilogy come October 22nd.
